Cambridge International program now visible on GreatSchools school profiles

Resources for parents, New data partnership connects K-12 families with information on schools’ courses and programs, and educators

Oakland, CA (August 2, 2022) — With 77% of parents finding it “absolutely essential” that their child go to college, being able to identify schools that can prepare students for success after high school is critical. The nonprofit GreatSchools today announced a nationwide data update to its school profiles to display which schools offer the internationally-recognized Cambridge International program.

Part of the University of Cambridge, the Cambridge International K-12 curriculum helps students develop deep subject knowledge, conceptual understanding, and higher order thinking skills that fuel success in school, college, and future employment. Nearly 1,000 colleges and universities in North America recognize and reward Cambridge coursework and exams for admissions, credit, and placement.

The Cambridge program was introduced in 1995 in the United States, and now serves nearly one million students around the world. As families gain access to information about Cambridge International being offered at their child’s school and schools learn about its benefits, this number is likely to keep growing.

“Today’s data update represents another important step in our efforts to provide parents with a richer picture of school quality,” said GreatSchools CEO Jon Deane. “When given access to trusted school information, we believe parents can and will take action to support high-quality educational opportunities for their families and communities. Our new partnership with Cambridge International will help us increase parents’ awareness of this renowned, worldwide learning program — in turn, giving them the opportunity to advocate for their child’s participation and increase demand for this valuable academic opportunity.”

Cambridge International praised the opportunity to partner with GreatSchools, which reaches more than 49 million families per year through its award-winning school information website.

“The student-centered Cambridge International program provides independent research and critical thinking skills, as well as deep subject specific knowledge.” said Mark Cavone, Regional Director of Cambridge International, North America. “We’re thrilled to partner with GreatSchools to connect more families with existing Cambridge International schools and raise awareness among the education community about the global benefits of Cambridge International programs for students in college and beyond.”

GreatSchools and Cambridge International representatives are available for media interviews.
