Awareness gap sidelines parents in supporting their child’s learning

¹Washington, D.C. (November 15, 2023) — A new report from Gallup and Learning Heroes, B-flation: How Good Grades Can Sideline Parents, finds that while nearly eight in 10 U.S. parents (79%) say their child is receiving mostly B’s or better and almost nine in 10 believe their child is at or above grade level in reading (88%) and math (89%), they may not be seeing the full academic picture. Parents’ perceptions of their child’s performance deviate sharply from other measures, including standardized test scores, that suggest less than half of children are performing at grade level.

GreatSchools and Project Lead The Way partner to connect K-12 families with information on schools’ science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) offerings

Oakland, CA (March 29, 2023) — According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEM jobs are projected to grow at twice the rate of non-STEM occupations over the next decade. Schools are increasingly preparing students to meet this demand and, through a new data partnership, families can now more easily identify STEM learning opportunities for their children.

GreatSchools’ 5th annual College Success Award recognizes high schools that excel at helping students enroll and persist in college

Today, the nonprofit GreatSchools announced the recipients of its 2022 College Success Award, an annual recognition that honors high schools excelling at preparing students to enroll and succeed in college, as determined by available data in each state.

GreatSchools adds Advanced Placement (AP) courses to nearly 15,000 school profiles, connecting families with important information for college preparation and success

Oakland, CA (August 2, 2022) — With 77% of parents finding it “absolutely essential” that their child go to college, being able to identify schools that can prepare students for success after high school is critical. National nonprofit GreatSchools today announced a nationwide data update that will help families do just that: the addition of Advanced Placement (AP) course offerings, provided by College Board.
