GreatSchools Data for Parent Action Convening

December 19, 2018 — In November, GreatSchools convened leading researchers and parent empowerment organizations for a full-day discussion about the barriers parents face and the promising ways to use school and student-level data to power parent action.

The Data for Parent Action convening included groups from more than 20 cities across the country, we learned from leading researchers, were inspired by parent leaders, and discussed promising practices demonstrated by local parent-facing organizations.

Lakisha Young, founder and Executive Director of The Oakland REACH kicked off our convening with a powerful story of determination, passion, leadership and the innovative work of an organization improving educational opportunities for all kids in Oakland, California.
